The Guangzhou Restaurant (Guangzhou jiujia) is not only the most famous and busiest in the area but also has a branch in Hong Kong and Los Angeles. There are three branches of this busy restaurant in Guangzhou and the one on Wengchangnan Road is the busiest and most historical, dating back to 1936. This is a classic and elegant restaurant serving up tasty and authentic Cantonese food. House specialties include Shrimp roe with orange, Casserole of Pork with chili and Abalone served with sprinkles of 24 carat gold! The deserts here are also great and those who have been in China for a long time will especially appreciate the sweeter things. Try the Cream Custard tart and Grated Coconut Cake. Guangzhou Lianxianglou Restaurant
Guangzhou Lianxianglou enjoys a high reputation both home and abroad, being called “No.1 Lotus Seed Paste”. It was founded in 1889, initially engaging in cakes and biscuits. The unique lotus seed paste cakes were very popular at that time. Lianxianglou has always been thriving. The old staff of Lianxianglou said proudly that Lianxianglou had never lost business for over 100 years. Lianxianglou have been engaging in developing name-branded moon cake manufacturing through all these years. The mini moon cakes with vitelline and lotus seed paste and rice cakes with coconut juice initially made by Lianxianglou are very popular. Taotao Ju Restaurant
Founded in 1880, Taotaoju Restaurant has a long history of 121 years. Kang You Wei, a famous scholar of late Qing Dynasty, inscribed the gold-lettered signboard of Tao Tao Ju. Taotaoju Restaurant is famous in Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macao and Southeast Asia for its unique architectural style, retired and quiet settings, traditional Cantonese food and high-quality service.
In 1997, Taotaoju Restaurant was firstly named as one of national special grade restaurants by MOFTEC(Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation). In 2000, a huge sum of money was put into the rebuilding of the restaurant. The restaurant acquired a completely new outlook. How to go there?
Metro Line 1, Exit D2 from Changshou Lu subway station and head south until you reach Dishipu Lu on your left (about 10 minutes depending on the pedestrian crowds). Head east along Dishipu Lu until it becomes Xiajiu Lu.
