
Guangzhou Baiyun Mountain (Baiyun shan / White Cloud Mountain ) is a great place to relax and enjoy a day among lush, rolling hills. There are many places to rest and refreshments are available along the way. It is a great place to see people enjoying nature and playing games, such as badminton, football (soccer) and even bungie jumping.
From long time ago, Baiyun Mountain has been one of the most famous spots of natural beauty in Guangzhou, and it’s still known as the First Spectacular Scene of Guangzhou The total area of Baiyun Mountain is about 28 square kilometers (10 square miles), consisting of 30 peaks. Baiyun Mountain refers to the mountain range located 7.5 km north of Guangzhou and made up of 30-odd peaks, with an area of 28 sq. meters. The highest peak, Moxing Ridge (Star-scrapping Ridge) stands in the center of Baiyun Mountain, measuring 382 meters in height, also called ‘the First Peak under the Southern Sky’.
People always describe the natural beauty of Guangzhou as being composed of white cloud and pearl sea, the white cloud referring to that of White Cloud Mountain, located about 17 kilometers (10 miles) north of Guangzhou. Baiyun Mountain is a famous historic attraction in Guangzhou, with lots of splendid scenery and places of interest, elected as the historical and new Eight Attractions of Guangzhou.
Baiyun Mountain is a park with natural hills and waters, and an ideal sightseeing place and summer resort, with a development history of over 1,000 years. So far six sightseeing zones have been developed: Mingzhu Tower, Moxing Ridge, Santai Ridge, Mingchun Valley, Fei’e Ridge and Luhu Lake. Apart from the existing scenes Moxing Ridge, Looking afar in the morning from Baiyun Mountain, Looking afar in the evening from Baiyun Mountain, the First Peak under the Southern Sky, Wind Soughing in the Pines on Baiyun Mountain, Village Hostel, Songtao Villa, Mingzhu Tower, Luming Restaurant and Baiyun Immortal’s House, there have been added for the past ten-odd years such scenic spots as Baiyun Cableway, Mingchun Valley – the largest birdcage in Asia, the Forest of Steles in Guangzhou, Nengren Temple, a golf course, Xinghai Garden, Yuntai Garden, the Sculpture Park and Baiyun Chute, etc.
Once you reach the top of Baiyun Mountain, you have the option of strolling around or visiting the many themed parks within the mountain. They really are like small garden havens or temples on the expanse of the mountain.

How to get to the Guangzhou Baiyun Mountain | |||||
There are many ways to Baiyun Mountain (White Cloud Mountain). You can take buses on special line from Yuhua Road; or take No. 11 bus to Shuquan Road, Shahe, and then climb the mountain on foot; or get to Yuntai Garden by No.24 bus, then by cable car (about 1,600 meters in all) (Guangzhou Metro Map) Taxi from Guangzhou City center to Yuntai Garden is about 25-30 Yuan ,one way , like from ( Beijing lu to Yuntai Garden , Tianhe Teemall to Yuntai Garden ), depend on your hotel location. You need to get off at Yuntai Garden if you want to take Cableway to the Baiyun Mountain . if you want to take sightseeing bus or walking to the mountain , you need to get off at the South Gate of Baiyun Mountain. Taxi from Guangzhou Baiyun Airport to Yuntai Garden/Baiyun Mountain is about 90 Yuan . 50 minutes. |
