There are 2 ways to travel to Macau: 1.) Take High Speed Train from Guangzhou South Railway Station to Zhuhai Gongbei Station, or 2.) Take bus from Guangzhou to Zhuhai Gongbei Port. The trip by train takes about 70 minutes and is fast and safe.

Take Guangzhou Metro Line 2 and get off at Guangzhou South Railway Station, Exit B or D.( Guangzhou Metro Map)

Buy your ticket first before going the waiting area. The ticket office is in Room 3. You will see the Ticket Vending Machines (TVM) on the other side of the lobby. However, the TVM works only for ID cards. Foreign visitors must go to Room 3 to buy their ticket.

Zhuhai Gongbei Port, you must pass out of mainland China through immigration in Zhuhai and then take a short walk before going through immigration once more to enter the special administrative region of Macau, despite it being part of China. And like Hong Kong, mainland Chinese need a special permit to enter Macau while many foreigners, including chinese, only need a passport.

You will see many people going through Customs. This shows the very long waiting lines on Monday at 10:30 AM. If you are going to Macau, it is best to wake up early to take the early train to Zhuhai, or you will have to wait a long time at in the lobby of Customs.

You will see many kinds of tourist brochures at the Macau tourist service. They are free.

In Macau, if you want to go to other places, you can just take the free shuttle bus outside the hotel to the Hong Kong – Macau Ferry Terminal. At the Hong Kong – Macau Ferry Terminal, you can choose another free shuttle bus. Or you can just take a taxi to the places that you want to go. Tip: If you are going to Macau from Guangzhou, it is best to wake up early to take a bus or the high speed train to Zhuhai Gongbei Port so that you don’t need to wait a long time at the lobby of Customs . Weekends will be very busy! Afternoons are not that busy.
Hi. what a bout macau to guangzhou?still busy and have to wait a long time?
maybe you mean from the Macau Custom to Mainland
I dont think so , depend on the time you travel to GZ from Macau
5-7 PM WOULD BUSY because a lot of chinese come back mainland from mainland , like last time i just need about 30 minutes from macau custom to mainland , at 6pm I think , if in the morning or at noon , more fast .
but from Zhuhai Gongbei to Macau , need to wait 1 hour or more , special at weekend .
You can take a bus to gz city from Gongbei Port , or take a high speed train from Gongbei to GZ south Railway Station , fast , but u need to take metro from GZ south railway station to GZ city , about 30-40 MINUTES , DEPEND YOUR LOCATION

Very helpful article. Saved me a lot of time and to pinpoint where to go and what signs to look for. I would of been very lost without it. Took the highspeed train from Gz to the port to get into Macau. For foreigners there was a seperate line to get into Macau which was located in a different room. I think I only waited 10-20 minutes in line to get through customs. I guess I caught it on a good day!
Thank ou, Glad you like this article.
I am from Malaysia, I have entered China though Guangzhou. Malaysian must have visa to enter China. My question is, if I go to Macau, would it be a problem as I have used up my single entry visa and later need to re-enter China.
You need touble entries visa if you travel from GZ to Macau then back from Macau to GZ
if you travel from GZ to Macau then from Macau to Malaysia, single Visa. if you are free visa for the Macau
